This photo was taken a couple of weeks back on the streets of palo alto. I was shooting a B&W TMAX100 film (yes, film!) for my PHTG2 class. I had to learn to develop the roll myself (yes, in the darkroom!) and then learn to print this (yes, wash and dry too!). The whole post-processing took me about 2hrs (yes, i only printed one photo!).
I guess “old-fashioned” is the antonym of “instant gratification”
Scanned by Canon LIDE 20, some cropping/burning in PS.

The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything is 42.
SIX * NINE = 42
#include “stdio .h”
#define SIX 1 + 5
#define NINE 8 + 1
int main(void)
{
printf( “What you get if you multiply six by nine: %dn”, SIX * NINE );
return 0;

“Someone who lies and someone who tells the truth are playing on opposite sides, so to speak, of the same game. Each responds to the facts as he understands them, although the response of the one is guided by the authority of the truth, while the response of the other defies that authority and refuses to meet its demands. The bullshitter (on the other hand) ignores these demands altogether. He does not reject the authority of truth, as the liar does, and oppose himself to it. He pays no attention to it at all. By virtue of this, bullshit is a greater enemy to truth than lies are.”

must admit i am hooked onto The Killers. They are definitely the best of the new crop of “indie-pop” bands. The vocals and the music, alongwith the lyrics, sets them apart easily.
My fav tracks are the two most psychopath-ic - Mr. Brightside and Jenny was a friend of mine

Today I got introduced to the world of macro photography. My collegue Vlad Butsky kindly let me borrow his Kenko extension tubes.
I played around a little bit in the yard this afternoon. I was amazed at the level of detail I could get. Simply liberating!
More photos are here.

As my never-ending quest for knowledge continues :wink:, I recently decided to give up on books of fiction. The primary catalyst for this decision was Dan Brown’s book Angels and Demons. This book by itself is not that horrible. The problem is, I have read his “Da Vinci Code” and “Digital Fortress” sometime ago and was astounded by the similarities in the storyline of all three.
Someone gets killed in the first page. Then, a brilliant single man meets a smart, sexy woman who may or may not be related to the victim. They both try to solve the case while avoiding death by a lonely assasin with no last name, whose mentor is a veteran old fellow known only by a codename until the “surprising revelation” at the end
Jeez! I can’t believe Brown is a best-selling author!
Any-ho, after I turned the last page of A&D, I closed the chapter of “reading another person’s imaginary crap” and ordered 3 non-fiction books from amazon.
The first one - On Bullshit
I am also reading Jeffery Sach’s End of Poverty…I decided to buy this after reading the fascinating cover story on his book in TIME magazine a few weeks back.
Will write my review of these books soon.
Note This is my personal blog and I have the right to change my mind anytime. This means I might revert back to reading “another person’s fictional drivel”…

Lately, I have been hooked on the wikipedia. I recently came across this article about the Iyer caste and their, supposed, descent from the ‘Aryan’ race rather than the Dravidians. Very interesting, to say the least.
Incidentally, the word Aryan means “noble”, which is ironic because the word connotes evil in this modern world.
I would love to hear my readers comments on this.
