the people of red states

Ever been to a red state…after the elections? I happend to be in Lawrence, Kansas for my brother’s graduation ceremony last sunday. This was the scene outside the auditorium. I was quite appalled by this in-your-face display…and I attributed that feeling to being from California. But most others (locals) in the ceremony were also disgusted and embarrased. It turns out that Lawrence is the only “blue spot” in an otherwise perfectly red Kansas. The psychopathic, bottom-feeding, “religious” evangelicals were out to wrench Lawrence into the “dark side”.

Oh, by the way, what the fuck were they doing outside on a sunday morning anyway…aren’t they supposed to be in church?

the words “Freedom” and “Liberty” are overused these days, and have lost their real value.
Lincoln said “I leave you, hoping that the lamp of liberty will burn in your bosoms until there shall no longer be a doubt that all men are created free and equal.”

With a fictitious war in Iraq, in the name of “liberty” but turning a blind eye to the genocide in Darfur, we seemed to have conveniently manipulated the word but have lost focus on its real meaning.

My 2 cents.
