v for vow!

v4v

I approaced the Wachowski brothers’ V for Vendetta with some skepticsm…thanks to their Matrix sequels. But the brothers have learned from their mistakes and have rebounded with a (v for) vengeance (yes, having someone else direct V4V probably helped too).

No mind-boggling concepts like The Matrix, but collectively V4V is very cool. Here is why-
* It portrays revolutions from two visions- zoomed out at the people, zoomed in at Portman
* V4V is a convergence of Orwell’s 1984 and today’s fear-based governance. (Color-coded curfews)
* Set 20 years from now but there are no weird flying machines. It feels very much like the “near future”
* The mask…and how it stays on.
* No cheesy extended climax fight scenes. The knife sequence is very Matrix-like.
* Similar to the 1996 Tamil film Indian - finally Hollywood is catching up with India

Dear Wachowski brothers, V4V is a (V for) Victory…just stop here. No sequels (P for) PLEASE!
