After 6+ years at Informatica, I have made the very hard decision (trust me, it was hard) to pursue another opportunity. I joined Infa as a Software Engineer. I am exiting as a Software Development Manager. An awesome career growth and an incredible learning experience!
Infa was where I learned patience - An 18-month release cycle is not exactly for the restless.
Infa was where I practiced diligence - Working on multiple projects on any given day will force you to be.
Infa was where I over-communicated - When working with teams across multiple timezones, assumptions are definitely the mother of all fuckups.
Infa was where I understood teamwork - It was not for the code that I stayed late nights, but it was for the camaraderie of having dinner together with my teammates after a 10-hour day.
Life at Infa for me was more than just the product releases.
Infa was where my creativity flowed with the making of the four product videos. Infa is where my acting skills (or lack thereof) emerged in the various skits. Infa is where my tequila-tolerance rose to great levels. I danced, I skiied, I snow-mobiled, I sang, I karaoked, I xmas-caroled, I trained and ran my first marathon. Infa was where I first fell in love.
I will miss Infa and its people. I will miss the amazing culture. I will cherish the memories I made at Infa forever.
Thank you Informatica!

GOOG has *finally* opened up Writely ! Five+ months since the acquisition . Is this a sign of GOOG becoming a 800lb gorilla?
On the brightside. I am writing this piece and blogging directly from Writely…Can M$FT Word do that?
You should check Writely out. Now.
Actually, no.
Apparently, there is something broken writing into a wordpress blog from Writely.
GOOG, get you ass moving!

“From the land of idly-sambar to land of dreams, Indra Nooyi has come a long way to prove herself…” (Read)
The new CEO of Pepsico, Indra Nooyi, is from my hometown Madras, India! An Indian Woman making it big.
This is great news for feminists (Nooyi will be the 11th woman running a Fortune 500 company) .
Nooyi is the new Carly Fiorina.
This is even bigger news for Indians in America (Nooyi is the highest -ranking Indian born woman in corporate America). A much needed boost to the ego of the massive Indian population unable to break into the highest rungs of Corp America. I have written earlier about the lackluster performance of Indian Americans in business. It is wonderful to see a Madrasi prove me (somewhat) wrong. Whether this is an exception the the rule or the beginning of a Desi revolution is yet to be seen. Nonetheless, it is great to see Indians making it big in $$$.
Brown is the new Green.
